A trio of TV spots represents a shift from last year's effort, which used the jingle, "Can't Beat the Thrill." The song has been turned into a tagline in the new 30-second ads, which show consumers who shop at Filene's Basement for bargains.

MSNBC Signs On With Mullen

Boston's MSNBC has hired Mullen Advertising for an interactive-related job. An MSNBC representative from the 24-hour news service, a joint venture between Microsoft Corp. and NBC TV, confirmed that Mullen was working for the client, but would not give more detailed information. The agency's president, Joe Grimaldi, would not comment and billings were not disclosed.
